My World

It’s a blog, I should write something… Two stories…. what’s more interesting?

It Never Really Hurt

I gave it all away. A silent contribution over the years. Sometimes a little, often times a whole lot. Never looking for thanks. It’s what I had to do. And it took me 20 years.

I spent my 21st birthday visiting my sister in Durango, Colorado. A few buddies from Denver came down and joined the fun. We went out, we drank. Had a good time. The morning after I was up early. Climbed over my sleeping friends, got dressed and headed out to the bagel shop. A man sits down across from me, hands me an envelope, and says “Happy birthday.”

It Always Hurt a Little

When I was thirteen I really had no clue. I was growing and changing and not sure of anything. Am I tall enough? Do girls like me? Why can’t I drive now?

I can’t remember. Was it her that leaned in, or did I just finally realize I had to get past this awkward moment? Standing in the woods that day was not like the dozens of other times we had snuck out at lunch. A misty fog was scattered about. We darted between the trees to get far away from the prying eyes of teaches and friends. We didn’t speak and after about 5 minuets it just happened. My first kiss. Her first kiss. Heck… it was our first kiss.

it's easy to say something nice....
