Shower Thoughts

Speaking of showers….. The only reference I have as an adult to how small I once was is the shower towel.

When I was younger, like 5 or 7, I always associated climbing out of the tub or shower with a great big fuzzy towel. Either Mom or Dad would wrap me up and quickly dry me off. When I was older and able to responsibly practice good bathing techniques, they would let me do my thing. But the thing is, I liked to stand there and drip dry. The towel hugged over my shoulders with a tight grip. Hair would drip, and on cold morning’s goose bumps would appear everywhere. But I just stood there. Waiting for the natural process of evaporation. That towel would safely cover me down to my ankles. I’d look down and see my toes, but almost all of me safely wrapped up.

As an adult, it’s mostly a utility thing…. ya shower up, ya get out and dry all the bits and pieces, and ya get ready for the day. Some days the hot shower is longer than others, but always just tossing the towel back over the rack so it can dry for the next day. Honestly, on somedays I still tightly grip the towel over my shoulders, step out, and just stand there safely snuggled up in my fuzzy towel. Truth be told the towel of today is no different than those Mom stocked the bathroom with. But it does fit different.

it's easy to say something nice....
